Guests: Leslie Hubbard speaks about her fascinating life as a former Buddhist nun who in her twenties, in pursuit of spiritual development, chose to lead a monastic life with renowned Zen master, Thich Naht Hanh, in a hamlet in the French countryside; and we speak with Gregory Lewis, sous chef of the well-loved Maya Restaurant, a popular staple in the Charlottesville restaurant landscape. Gregory is a chef who is known as much for his work ethic as for his skills in the back of the house. He shared some of his favorite recipes and revealed his passion for life in the kitchen.

You'll be just as inspired by the sheer energy of her storytelling and of her substantial accomplishments. Leslie is currently the program director for student learning and initiatives at the University of Virginia’s Contemplative Sciences Center. She received a Master’s of Divinity from Harvard University and was ordained as a Buddhist Nun studying with Zen Master Thich Naht Hanh at his monastery in Bordeaux, France. She is one of the founding members of Blue Cliff Monastery in upstate New York.

Gregory Lewis worked his way up, learning on the job, to become sous chef in one of Charlottesville's most beloved restaurants, Maya. Tune to hear some chef talk about knife skills, bolognese, and spaetzle!
